It may be the last long weekend of the summer, but it will be a hot one in Hubbards this Labour Day weekend. There will be a double header at the Shore Club with two big icons of rock music, and head to the Trellis for dinner and entertainment.
Friday, August 29 - Dinner and Entertainment at The Trellis Cafe features Jackie Dunsworth. Jackie's smooth  presentation combined with her flair on sax and keyboards combine for an enjoyable evening of entertainment. Saturday night has Dr. Laurie McNeill performing. Reservations can be made by calling 857-1133.
Saturday morning head over to The Barn for the weekly Farmers Market from 8:00 am - Noon. There will be lots of fresh produce, baked goods, preserves and jams, wine & cheese, meat, arts and crafts, and tasty delights. Not to mention breakfast items and free trade coffee. Drop by and meet some new friends.
The Sunday Markets which were new this year, continued to build all summer long, and this Sunday August 31st will be the last of the Sunday markets (10:00 - 2:00). The Saturday Markets will continue until Thanksgiving.

On Saturday night, August 30th,  the Shore Club is proud to welcome back Matt Minglewood. Minglewood first made an appearance at the Shore Club in 1969, when he entered on the back (literally) of Sam Moon. His hard driving style of 'Raunch and Roll' has been his trademark. He has a whole generation of fans in Nova Scotia, and across Canada. When you are at a Minglewood show, every song is an anthem, and the crowd knows them all by heart.
Matt is backed by Grant Leslie on bass, Moon McInnis on drums and Jimmy Ralph on keyboards. www.mattminglewood.com
This summer Minglewood has been busy playing all the major Festivals around the region, including a performance in Kandahar. He was also performing his one-man show 'The Story', which is an acoustic soft seat performance, where he spins his story, as he plays his songs. And a great storyteller he is. When he is on stage with the band, you will hear stories of Cape Breton, Dog Patch and broken hearts.
This Saturday, the Shore Club opens at 9:30. Tickets are $15 and are only available at the door. However if you arrive early for the Lobster Supper at the Shore Club, you can purchase your tickets with dinner. The Lobster Supper runs from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Saturdays. For a complete summer schedule of the Shore Club and Lobster Supper information visit www.shoreclub.ca

On Sunday night August 31st, North America's #1 Creedance Clearwater Revival tribute band - Green River Revival will be on stage. They have been playing to major Festivals all over North America, and we have been very lucky to be able to have them come to Hubbards for a 'small-venue' show.  Green River has probably performed all these great tunes more times than CCR themselves. Just close your eyes and you would think that John Fogarty himself was on stage.  They will be on stage on Sunday August 31st (long weekend) from 9:30 - 1:00. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets are available at the Shore Club every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. http://www.ccrtribute.com

Shining Waters Marine in Tantallon is featuring Lobster Suppers every Wednesday night, with the best view in the Bay www.shiningwaters.ca

Don't forget, Monday is Labour Day, so you have a day to rest.

What have you got planned for Monday September 8th? Mark Monday September 8th on your calendar for a Gala Evening (7:00 - 9:30) of wine tasting, hors d'euvres, art show and auction, together with a silent auction. To be held at the Shore Club, tickets are $25 per person and are now available at the Shore Club or by calling 857-9555 with a valid credit card. There will be over 40 wines available for tasting from both Nova Scotian and International wineries. The art show will feature the works of Joe Fitzpatrick and his students who will be coming to Hubbards from all over North America for his painting workshop. http://www.artscape.net/ Each of the students will be donating a piece of art for the auction. Top this off with a silent auction and lots of tasty finger foods, with all proceeds going to the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research.
This is the first time we have offered a gala evening like this. Compared to similar events in Metro, the price is right, the cause is right and the offering is exceptional, but in order to be successful and so we can plan more of these events, we need your support.

Tickets for The Trews concert on September 11th are now on sale and going fast. We are very proud to announce that Caledonia, featuring Steve Gates, will be opening for The Trews, so now you have two great acts for the price of one. If you haven't got your tickets yet ($25 per person - 19 and over), they are available at the Shore Club from Wed. thru Sun from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, OR you can order by phone 857-9555 with a valid credit card ($2 surcharge). www.thetrewsmusic.com  www.caledoniatheband.ca
